Communication Plan
Effective Communication is key!
I believe that establishing effective communication and connections with parents and guardians is crucial as a teacher, as it facilitates collaboration for the benefit of the student. One way to do this is It's by starting the communication process before the school year begins. I would initiate it by sending out an introductory email to all families a week prior to school. This email will introduce myself, outline my beliefs and values, and provide information on necessary information that students and parents will need to know before the school year starts. As well, I consider it essential to personally connect with each student's parents/guardians by making phone calls a few days before school starts. This personal touch demonstrates my genuine interest in getting to know both the student and their family, and it allows for open dialogue to address any questions or concerns. These conversations also provide an opportunity for parents to share valuable insights about their child, fostering a sense of mutual respect and collaboration.
In addition, I believe it is important to keep this communication with parents throughout the school year. Within the first month of the school year, I would call or email home to share something positive that their child did within school. I think this will help foster and strengthen my relationship with parents/guardians.
Throughout the year, I would make sure after school to remain available to chat with parents by saying goodbye at the school doors. This way I can communicate and show that I am open and available to chat with the families of my students. As well, I will make sure to respond to emails from the families of my students within 24-48 business hours. This way I can prioritize my own wellness by allowing myself downtime after school hours, but while still responding quickly.
